Yes if you pirate it you can load it on multiple machines but the cracked version of pro tools has its issues. I feel like even with the ilok having a legal copy of Pro Tools has its advantages. I've never had an issue with the ilok or the ilok2 so far and of people I've worked closely with the only issues have been either losing them or sending them through the washer in a pants pocket. Plus a lot of their bigger clients like major post houses and studios and whatnot certainly aren't going to be pirating the software.Īnd for the unreliable part I guess we've just had different experiences. Photoshop is probably the most pirated program out there but you don't see Adobe just stopping their effort to fight it.
I have a desktop and a laptop and I'm not always using my own system so if there is a plug in or something I like to use that the person who's rig I'm using doesn't own I can just bring my ilok, install the plug in, and then use it while I'm there instead of having to buy a second copy of the plug in.Īs far as the piracy is concerned the same could be said for plenty of other software companies. Personally I like how the ilok system works much better than the alternative most other software uses of being locked to one computer. r/MixClub /r/AudioEngineering /r/ListenToThis /r/Music /r/RadioReddit /r/LearnMusic /r/Reasoners /r/AudioPost /r/GameAudio /r/RateMyAudio /r/StudioPorn /r/SFXLibraries
